It’s time to retire that old calendar filled with amazing lifetime memories and a couple of days I would rather forget for a brand spankin’ new one (you can read about my favorite here) jam packed with potential and possibilities. An invitation to celebrate the previous year’s successes and reflect and learn from its failures.
It’s a kick in the butt to do better, live fuller, and love deeper.
A time for personal growth, fresh beginnings, and new experiences. With all that could lie ahead how can you not be excited for the adventure of 2016?
Even with this excitement and recognition of what the New Years symbolizes I am not one of the estimated 312 million people that sets a specific resolution. Honestly, I’ve never have been on this bandwagon. It just seems like a whole lot of pressure. Nope, I’m much more of a Monday resolution girl. Every Monday is a mini New Years. I wake up to the excitement a new week and set mini weekly goals. For me this is more realistic and increases my rate of achievement. Plus, if you mess up you only have a six day maximum to wait until your do over of a New Monday.
So single 2016 resolution? No. But what I am determined to do in 2016 is embrace a new mindset. A mindset that allows challenges to become opportunities, that turns a no into a yes, that invites spontaneity, that will do more than and think less, that will believe anything is possible and that my passion is worth exploring. A mind that I will allow to be inspired.
Yes, in 2016 I will be open and will accept inspiration into my life. And along the way if I shall inspire someone else this will definitely be an added bonus.
Inspiration just might be the coolest thing around because it is all around. It’s endless energy that seems to spring up when you least expect it.
Ever been an audience member for a guest speaker and you feel like your head is going to roll off because you are nodding so fiercely in agreement at every spoken word? Read a book and you highlighted every sentence because it just spoke to you? Witnessed something truly incredible that made you take immediate action? Oh yes, inspiration will be my drug this year. It’ addicting and powerful.
A color of a flower can inspire an entire room décor.
A beautiful landscape photograph can inspire booking a vacation.
A powerful article and awareness can inspire a grassroots effort.
Oh yes, inspiration is all around us and can strike randomly and hold our attention for life. All I have to do is talk to someone living their passion or meet someone making significant positive change, and I’m thinking again what is possible.
If you are someone setting goals or a New Years resolution, experts suggest that you follow the SMART rules. Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timely. I believe that allowing inspiration to cultivate your world and letting your passion lead your life deserves its own SMART rules.
Surround yourself around inspirational people.
Find a mentor with similar interests. Soak up their knowledge, share their energy and passion, and never stop learning from them. Be around people who believe in you.
Make your passion a priority.
Life can always stand in your way…if you let it. Make time to live what you love every single day. Wake up at 5am, don’t go to bed till midnight, sneak it in on a lunch break – figure out how and when and then schedule time to pursue your passion.
Addicted to happiness, inspiration and success.
You know that feeling after talking to someone with a powerful message? That high you get after achieving a goal? Become addicted to that feeling. Demand it in your life. Create a path to your own happiness. Allow yourself to be inspired, breathe your passion, and many times success will find you. The more challenges you have to overcome the sweeter the victory.
Don’t just settle for existing. Strive to have a remarkable existence. Filled with ambition and drive. Define your own success and figure out what makes you happy. And then do it, be it, and live it. P.S. And help others along the way.
Always. Dream the impossible and then figure out a way to achieve it. Read, play, explore, and create. Become a lifetime learner. Be a transformational change agent. Be inspired to be the best at what you are doing. Always make room to be inspired.
You have 365 days to make this the best year yet. Life doesn’t start tomorrow, it’s happening now. Right this very second.
Live an incredible and inspired life,
